“The effect of the performance-enhancing soft drink” headstart “on mental and physical performance”
Dr V. Höltke, Dr M. Steuer, Dr E. Jacob
Numerous experimental studies have shown that…
The measured values of adrenaline (A) and in particular of noradrenaline (NA) were higher in the respective “headstart” group than in the placebo group. The relationship between the two catecholamines (A: NA), which is important for assessing the sympathetic activity, was around 30% higher and thus significantly more favorable after consuming “headstart”, ie the “stress” was lower in this group.
In a direct comparison of all study participants, the headstart group achieved better performance , especially in the last third of the observation period, i.e. with headstart the “highest” (brain) performance could be maintained longer!
